GEORGE TOWN - two friends sentenced to death by the Penang High Court here on the offense of drug trafficking in 33,181 grams of cannabis five years ago.
Judicial Commissioner Mohd Amin Firdaus Abdullah made the decision after finding that the defense had failed to raise a reasonable doubt in the prosecution case.
Both the accused, the tow truck workers Zhahril Mohd Hussin Ahmad, 29, and shippingclerk Nazri Abdul Hamid, 35, was calm when the judge passed the sentence against them.
They were charged with trafficking drugs in front of the Centre in the Park With AssortedSukaramai Gaga, Permatang Pauh at about 5 pm, June 22, 2007.
Both were charged under Section 39B (1) (a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 which is punishable under Section 39B (2) which carries the mandatory death sentence.
Both the accused were represented by counsel Ranjit Singh Dhillon, while theprosecution made by Deputy Public Prosecutor Mohd Johari emery
